911 was implemented on 1968 by Robert Fitzgerald. The first 911 call was made on February 16, 1968 on a Friday afternoon around 2p.m. The call was placed by the speaker of the house Rankin Fite of Alabama from the Mayor’s office to US Representative Tom Bevill. A bright red telephone was used to answer the call.
