WHY AREN'T THE LETTERS OF THE ALPHABETS ARRANGED IN PROPER ORDER ON A TYPEWRITER?

                        Letters which are rarely used are placed on the extreme left and the extreme right. Thus Q is on the extreme left. Often the letter T appears in words after R. Therefore, R and T are placed together.
