FIRST AUTOMATIC SUBWAY TRAIN

The first unmanned subway train to run automatically was in New York City on January 1st 1962. It was agreed that a motorman should be on board during its trial period. It ran between the Times Square and Grand Central stations as a 2, 600 ft. shuttle. Nowadays, automated trains are most common with a driver or staff manning the train for safety and public concerns.
